He secured 643 votes while his rival Malik Saeed Hassan received 554 votes.
Addressing supporters at the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) premises, Qayyum said he believes in the unity of lawyers community and their welfare. He said he believes in the rule of law, democracy and strengthening of democratic institutions in the country. He also vowed to work for establishing better relations between the Bar and the Bench. He said stronger judiciary is a must for achieving the goal of a good society. He vowed to do his best to come up to lawyers expectations.
